  This is very neat, I love the spine treatment! It's the first time I see the terms "button hole journal" or "button stitch" though, what are they?

        Emmajane, on this page jen.f1-comics.com/design.htm look for "here's links to instructions I wrote" and there are links to diagrams Jen made :^)

          Just recently stumbled upon this thread, and I'm so glad I did. I followed the instructions on Jen's site and managed to come up with a couple of buttonhole journals.
          
          I've been bookmaking a lot for the past week (4 coptics, 2 buttonholes). I'm a newbie still, and still looking for more info on how to make other kinds of bindings.

  your button journal is lovely. i got stuck on coptics (which i love to do) and haven't branched out since. between the button hole and emmajane's 'bird toes' i feel inspired anew!
  
  thanks for sharing your work with us. this is a fun and fantastic forum and though i don't have much to share these days (a creative block of sorts) i like to see what the rest of you are up to.
