I'm just curious. I love book art as well as altered books, and I noticed in the description of this group that it says (not altered books). Is there a reason for this that I'm missing? I'm fairly new to both art forms, so forgive me if I'm uninformed here.

Re: why no ABs?
Fri, October 10, 2003 - 4:51 AMActually it's just a personal thing, there seems to be dozens of groups for people who are into altered books and journals, and I figured I'd try to encourage binding discussions rather than altered book disscussions.
(yeah ok i'm a snob and i could never bring myself to alter a book) -

Re: why no ABs?
Fri, October 10, 2003 - 3:58 PMWell, I don't think you're alone in your thoughts on ABs, which is why I asked. I noticed this same sort of feeling in other groups, and as I said, I'm new to all of this so was curious if I was reading more into this than there was. I came to book art first, and I too had a kind of weird feeling about ABs, as if they were just a step up from a scrap book, but after learning more about it, I've changed my mind. I don't think they are necessarily the same as book art, but I do see a connection. I appreciate your politely stated honest opinion. Thank you.
